ABOUT ME
I, Siddhartha Jha graduated from the Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi with an LL.B. degree in the year 2009 and was admitted to practice in India the same year. In November 2009, I joined the chambers of Ritin Rai, a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India and a Door Tenant,7 Kings’s Bench Walk, Temple, London. I qualified as an Advocate On Record after successfully passing the examination conducted by the Supreme Court of India in February 2016.
My independent practice comprises regular appearances before the Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi, the various Tribunals located in Delhi and Arbitral Tribunals, in addition to limited counselling work.
AREAS OF PRACTICE
ARBITRATION
I have appeared in a wide variety of arbitration matters, including petitions for the appointment of arbitrators, applications seeking interim relief, applications to set aside of arbitral award, and execution petitions both before the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi. I have also appeared before Arbitral Tribunals, both institutional and ad-hoc presided over by retired Judges of Supreme Court of India and various High Courts.
DISPUTES RELATED TO ARMED FORCES
I have handled disputes related to commission, appointments and conditions of service in respect of military personnel before the Supreme Court, Armed Forces Tribunal and the High Court of Delhi.
CONSUMER DISPUTES
I have appeared in various matters relating to consumer disputes before the Supreme Court of India and National Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum. In particular, I have handled matters related to medical negligence, builder-buyer disputes, provident fund disputes etc.
COMPANY LAW
I have appeared in a variety of matters relating to Company Law before the Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi, the National Company Law Tribunal and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal. These include issues under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and disputes relating to Mergers and Acquisitions, Reduction of Share Capital, and Oppression and Mismanagement.
CRIMINAL LAW
I have appeared before the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi in a variety of criminal matters handling appeals against convictions and bails (regular as well as anticipatory). In particular, I have handled matters of offences punishable under Indian Penal Code, NDPS Act, Prevention of Corruption Act, etc.
FAMILY LAW
I have handled various disputes related to divorce, maintenance, child custody, transfer petitions etc before the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi.
PROPERTY LAW
I have handled numerous matters related to property disputes, land acquisition, partition, tenancy laws etc before the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi.
SERVICE LAW
I have appeared in various matters related to service laws, dealing with disputes related to promotion, transfer, wages, gratuity, compassionate appointments etc before the Supreme Court of India, the High Court of Delhi and Central Administrative Tribunals.
TELECOM DISPUTES
I have appeared in various telecom disputes before the Supreme Court of India and Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal. In particular, I have done matters related to validity of licences, challenges to spectrum auction and disputes arising out of licences.
